Discovery from the gap

After looking back on my coaching, it was a true that I did give all the instructions to the National players and staffs according to and based on my experiences in Japan and USA. However I realized that my instruction or coaching methods was not suitable and appropriate for French education and mentality, which were so different from the ones in USA and Japan. The differences were:

1.French athletes do not depend on a coach so much in comparing the athletes in USA and Japan.
2.They are individualist.
3.They are so independents in learning process.
4.They are so disciplined in aspect of physical and mental works.

As stated above, I found out that French athletes needed only concrete instruction and information to learn something and they would develop by themselves what they understood or were instructed. To succeed in coaching or teaching in France, I conclude that we must first study and understand their educational system and mentality and more importantly we must respect their education-mentality-culture-history no matter what.

"In order to be respected by someone, you should first respect him. "

"In order to be understood by someone, you should first understand him."
